Ethiopia
Ethiopia has a fascinating ancient history yet it is one of the worlds best kept secrets despite having eight World Heritage sites.Among them are the Simien Mountains and the rock churches of Lalibelia. Ethiopia more commonly linked to famine and one of the worlds earliest hominids “lucy” images of the Ark of the Convenant, Indiana Jones, mysterious rock buildings, but nothing prepares you for the amazing reality of truly different landscapes and history.

Even time is different as you become seven years younger on arrival because Ethiopia still uses the Julian calendar with 13 months..The other difference one must adjust to is that time is calculated from sunrise.

There are many peaks over 4,000 metres, and Mt Ras Dashen at 4,620 metres is the highest in the country and the fourth highest in Africa.
