Lhasa to Kathmandu Overland - includes Everest Base Camp - 13 Days

We start our  Tibet Overland tour in Kathmandu with sightseeing to Bodtanath  and Swayambhunath Temple. The following day we fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa  over the spectacular snow capped Himalayan Mountains with great views of Mt Everest on a clear day.

In Lhasa we spend a few days acclimatizating and sightseeing, visiting the famous 7th century Patola Palace , Drepung and Sera monasteries and the  bustling Barkhor bazaar. There will be enough a free time in Lhasa to watch the devout pilgrims circle the temple or search for beautiful Tibetan souvenirs in the local market.

It is a spectacular trip along the ‘Friendship Highway’, over high passes across the Himalayas and the Tibetan plateau  from Lhasa to Kathmandu. The highest point being the (5,300mt) and Lalung (5,050m) passes. We visit the multi storey Khumbhum Stupa in Gyantse with its colourful traditional architecture and Everest Base camp from the Tibetan side.

The views of Mt Everest and the Himalayan mountain range are just fantastic.

Day 4: Lhasa -sightseeing (aclimatisation)
Day 5: Lhasa -  Gyaste
Day 6: Gyaste – Shigatse ( rest day)
Day 7: Shigatse ( rest day)
Day 8: Shigatse – Xegar
Day 9: Xegar – Rongbuk Monastery – Everest Base Camp
Day 10: Rongbuk Monastery – Everest Base Camp – Rongbuk Monastery
Day11: Rongbuk Monastery – Nayalum
Day 12: Nayalum – Kathmandu
Day 13: Kathmandu
