New for 2010 - Vietnam - Ethiopia - Switzerland - New Zealand
Ann Young ( Director) “Trekking 4 Women” was founded as a company in 2006 by Ann Young. This is a New Zealand based company and I am focused on providing quality guided adventure trekking and cultural trips." My skills to take these trips are drawn from 20 years experience of exploring many parts of New Zealand and overseas trekking, tramping, bushwalking with friends and leader of many diverse groups small and large. My skills and passion have also come from my training in the outdoors and in the tourism industry i.e. study in tourism and travel, bushcraft, rock climbing, alpine and first aid in the outdoors, risk management (run by the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council), Civil Defence and Search & Rescue. Our Ethiopian trips are lead by Sue:
Sue has spent a lot of time in Ethiopia is passionate about the mountians and culture and has a wealth of knowledge to share with her clients . Sue was involved with environment and rural community development before establishing a landscape and safari company in Tanzania. Now based in Greta Valley North Canterbury in New Zealand. Sue returns regularly to Africa on landscape assignments, which enables her to keep updated from ground level up on new events and experiences that may enhance our tours to Ethiopia. Trips: These trips travel to Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, India, Vietnam, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Switzerland and New Zealand with other like minded women. The objective is to provide sustainable active travel adventures that are beneficial to the culture of local communities, and the mountains of the countries we visit Why? I have identified from a number of years travelling around the world as a mature aged woman, there was a gap for trekking trips for women in the 40 years plus age, were not catered for. Challenging treks: All women trekking trips in Nepal, with “Trekking 4 Women” will be supported (while trekking) with the local support of porters / sherpa’s carrying one large backpack per trekking person or mules in Ethiopia. This helps to generate income for the locals and enables trekkers to enjoy the experience. All clients will be required to carry their own daypack with a coat, camera, water etc that will be needed to support themselves for the day. Cultural tours: The Chitwan Safari in Nepal offers a unique, local experience of riding elephants in the Chitwan National Park, spotting Royal Bengal Tigers and the one-horned Rhino. In India we ride Camels into the dessert and visit famous sights such as the Taj Mahal. Cruising / cycling & kayaking tours: The Stewart Island tour, cruise and trek is at the bottom of New Zealand and enables you to trek each day and return to the comfort of the boat at night. Fantastic way to go! In Vietnam we are onboard a traditional Junk, plus kayaking in Halong Bay, trekking in the Sapa mountains plus cycling the quite rural areas. Accommodation: In Africa the accommodation will be huts while trekking and lodges when on Safari. Our accommdoation on the New Zealand cruise in the Marlborough Sounds and Stewart Island will be on board a boat, while the Vitenam Active North to South tour includes basic hotels, onboard a Traditional Junk and a homestay. Trip numbers will be kept to a maximum of 12 people to ensure not only the safety of the group but to strive to give each client the comfort and attention they deserve. . Our core values are being passionate about what we do with integrity, having fun and being responsible to clients, the culture and the environment.
