Vietnam

Active north to south, trekking, kayaking & cycling -15 days

Vietnam is a country of impressive beauty, history and fablous Vietnanese culture.

Halong Bay offers opportunities to kayak around the impressive islands which are the most spectacular and romantic of all Vietnam’s natural wonders. From the emerald waters, 3,000 islands rise steeply to create a dramatic seascape. Known to be the ‘dragon descends into the sea’.

Vietnam strches from the north with the  ‘The roof of Vietnam’ where the Hoang Lien Mountains (Tonkinese Alps) soar to over 3,000m and where some of Vietnam’s most spectacular scenery is to be found. This is the road less traveled, much of the area is sparsely populated and the mountains are still home to many ethnic minorities. The Montagnard women still favour elaborate costumes of brightly coloured skirts, tops and hats with each ethnic group favouring its own colour variation and design.
Sapa is an atmospheric former hill station with magnificent views of rice terraces and mountains. The northern Sapa region is cooler in winter (the best time to travel in Vietnam), however the temperatures in the south will be mild and most enjoyable.

Vietnam is a fabulous cultural experience – offering great opportunites of cycling on quiet roads, through rural villages seeing the local culture first hand.

Our tour takes in the imperial city of Hue (Historic Hoi An), the beach resort of Nha Trang (where we will take a day cruise and snorkeling) and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi’s historical sights: the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and house, the One Pillar Pagoda (A small but significant pagoda with a Buddhist representation of the world) or the Temple of Literature.
